Environmental Policy

Polyus Gold International Limited (the "Company") recognises that our operational activities have an impact on the natural and social environment around us.

We are confident that by setting clear objectives, developing long-term sustainable plans, sticking to our project execution strategies, analysing received results and continuously improving our performance - will enable us to manage, mitigate and, where possible, eliminate residual environmental and social impacts at sites where we operate. In order to achieve this we undertake the following commitments:

•   Comply fully with all applicable environmental legal requirements and regulations.
•   Identify the potential environmental risks and impacts of our activities at an early stage, from project design through to aspects relating to rehabilitation and mine closure.
•   Develop and implement environmental management system at all our operating sites and clearly define environmental objectives and indicators that require continuous improvement, and regularly assess our environmental performance.
•   Apply best industry and proven management practices to mitigate or prevent pollution at our operations.
•   Continuously educate our employees regarding the Company's environmental objectives and practices.
•   Enforce on our contractors full compliance with our environmental requirements and standards.
•   Provide all necessary resources for implementing and improving the performance of the Company's environmental management system.
