R&D Center

Polyus Group Research & Development center was established in 2004 in the city of Krasnoyarsk. The center’s main objective is to produce innovations to support the whole range of group’s activities in the areas of exploration, mining and ore processing. The center consists of a number of labs and is fully equipped with high-tech instruments, such as atomic-emission spectrometer, spectrophotometer and atomic-absorption spectrophotometer. Its staff is capable of solving a broad spectrum of mining technology tasks.

Mineralogical laboratory is tasked with the study of ores from the group’s deposits with the view to optimize exploration, production, and ore processing. The lab accumulates data on mineral and chemical composition, structural and textural particularities of bed rocks and ores, behavior of ores in processing, and gold extraction rates.

Laboratory of geomechanics and engineering is involved in development of mining, mine engineering, and mine construction technologies. This includes studying physical and technological properties of rocks and soils, evaluation of stability of pit benches and walls. The lab is developing a proprietary data base of physical and technological parameters of ores and rocks from the Group’s deposits.

The ore-processing laboratory is one of the core divisions of the R&D center. Its purpose is to develop flotation, gravitational enrichment, magnetic separation, concentration, filtration and other technologies for ore processing.

Laboratory of hydrometallurgy is involved in development of complex ore processing technologies and equipment utilizing leaching, sorption, and thermal treatment. The lab also develops new sorption chemicals and alternative non-cyanide leaching agents, as well as waste treatment and refinement technologies.

Laboratory of pyrometallurgical processes will be involved in development of environmental friendly technologies for thermal ore treatment.

Analytical laboratory specializes in evaluating gold and precious metal content in ores, ore concentrates and ore treatment products. The lab is also involved in development of precise measurement technologies.
